Job Description

Business Analyst

Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Business Analyst to provide cross-functional analytical support across JVM’s multifamily portfolio, with a focus on budgeting, financial analysis, operational efficiency, and technology-driven insights. As an integral part of our data-driven culture, this role will partner closely with Operations, Finance, Marketing, and Asset Management to deliver actionable analysis that drives both property-level performance and portfolio-wide strategy. The ideal candidate will combine advanced technical expertise with business acumen—leveraging tools like Power BI, SQL, and Python to uncover trends, automate processes, and support operational decisions that align with JVM’s long-term growth and customer-focused mission.

Key Responsibilities:

Cross-Functional Analysis & Reporting

• Partner with Operations, Finance, Marketing, and Asset Management teams to deliver portfolio-level and property-specific analysis that informs strategy and decision-making.

• Conduct portfolio-wide benchmarking and financial analysis to support annual budgets, reforecasts, and strategic planning.

• Deliver ad-hoc analysis and insights for senior leadership to support operational and investment decisions.

Data Management & Tools Development

• Build, maintain, and optimize reporting dashboards in Power BI and advanced Excel to track KPIs, monitor performance, and highlight actionable trends.

• Leverage knowledge of data structures within the company’s third-party BI platform to ensure effective analysis and reporting.

• Develop and maintain advanced Excel models for budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.

• Query and transform large datasets using SQL and Python (preferred) to provide deep-dive analysis and scenario modeling.

Process Improvement & Automation

• Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency using advanced Excel techniques, BI tools, Python (preferred), and AI-driven solutions.

• Collaborate with IT and business systems teams to ensure data integrity, streamline reporting processes, and enhance analytics capabilities.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics/Data Science, Information Systems, or Engineering or similar.

Experience:

• 5+ years in an analytical role, preferably within multifamily real estate, property management, or related industry.

• Experience with Power BI (required) and advanced Excel (including macros, pivot tables, and complex formulas).

• Strong SQL skills; Python proficiency preferred.

• Familiarity with property management systems (e.g., RealPage, Yardi, Entrata) and CRM platforms preferred.

Skills:

• Self-starter with the ability to work independently, take ownership of projects, and proactively identify opportunities for analysis and improvement.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.

• Able to clearly explain findings and recommendations to both analytical and non-analytical audiences.

• Experience applying AI and automation tools to improve business processes and analytics.

• Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize work, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.

We take care of our people. Here’s how:

  • Competitive pay  – reviewed annually to match the market
  • Discounted rent  if you live onsite
  • Health, dental, vision insurance  – we’ve got you covered
