Build Your Future with the Best:

We are looking for enthusiastic candidates looking to begin a career in the trades as a Local 669 Fire Sprinkler Apprentice and join F.E. Moran Fire Protection and work on projects in the Quad Cities area.

Apprenticeship Overview:

Duration: 5-year program

Training:

• On-the-Job Training (OTJ) in the field
• Online courses and book work
• In-person schooling (19 courses through a nationally recognized university)

Starting Classification:

• Most apprentices begin as Class 1
• Potential Advanced placement if you have experience in:
  • Commercial construction
  • Plumbing, HVAC, or electrical
  • Military service in a related field
• Union determines starting class level based on experience and discretion

Progress Review:

• Every 6 months, apprentice records are reviewed for:
  • Satisfactory On-the-Job progress
  • Satisfactory performance in related training courses
  • Satisfactory progress leads to promotion to the next classification and a wage increase

Credit for Experience:

• Opportunity to receive credit (and start at a higher level) based on:
• Completed college courses
• Military background

Benefits:

• Full insurance coverage for the apprentice and eligible dependents
• Pension included through the union

Qualifications:

• Education/Experience:
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • GED or Highschool Diploma required
  • Construction experience is a plus but not required
• Skills:
  • Basic construction knowledge
  • Understanding and experience using hand tools
• Ability to travel to job sites local and abroad – valid driver’s license.
• Ability to adapt and learn a new trade
• Ability to work consistently with heights
• Must be physically fit to do the work of the trade
• Must pass an appropriate drug test and physical

All pay and benefits are outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
