We are seeking a Medical Director of CNS Early Assets, Global Medical Affairs, specializing in Psychiatry and/or Neurology, to support assets within the broader CNS TA portfolio Medical Affairs (US and Global). This role is accountable for a subset of assigned assets aligned to the CNS Early Assets strategy and will work with the Sr. Director, Franchise Lead CNS Early Assets.

Position Summary:

The Medical Director, Global Medical Affairs, CNS Early Assets will support and execute the strategic vision for a select group of CNS assets (encompassing Psychiatry and emerging Neurology). This role reports to the Sr. Director, Global Medical Affairs, Franchise Lead CNS Early Assets. Assets may include treatments for serious illnesses with unmet medical needs in various early development stages. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, KOLs, and stakeholders to implement asset-level medical affairs strategies and tactics, driving development and commercialization of CNS treatments. The position includes US and Global Medical TA and asset-level strategies and plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Align to the therapeutic strategy and support the strategic vision for the assigned assets or TA portfolio.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of medical strategic plans and initiatives for assigned assets based on unmet needs and medical value proposition aligned with the overall TA strategy.
  • Represent Medical Affairs at US and Global governance meetings as needed; collaborate with cross-functional leads to implement the CNS TA strategy.
  • Contribute to development and optimization of TRPPs (target reimbursable product profiles) for assigned assets in development.
  • Support lifecycle management initiatives and planning for assigned assets as applicable.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders, academic institutions, and medical/advocacy societies within the CNS disease areas.
  • Act as a company representative and advocate in relevant medical and scientific communities for assigned CNS areas.
  • Engage with international scientific leaders and stakeholders (therapeutic guideline committees, payers, public groups, government officials, medical societies) about Otsukas emerging science.
  • Ensure peer relations across functions at appropriate leadership levels (Clinical Development, Translational Medicine, Global and US Marketing, Global Value and Real-World Evidence, etc.).
  • Bring Scientific and Medical Affairs expertise in US and global healthcare landscapes, with knowledge of the US regulatory environment.
  • Stay current on advancements, research, and publications in Psychiatry and Neurology; provide medical and scientific insights to internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Be up to date on Medical Affairs trends and help the franchise and department adapt and stay ahead.
  • Collaborate with regional medical leads, clinical development, global value and real-world evidence, US and global commercial teams, market access, and regulatory affairs to ensure integrated global and medical affairs strategies and input into leadership planning.

Requirements

  • Medical Doctor (MD), PhD or PharmD with demonstrated experience in CNS Psychiatry or Neurology (preferably neuroinflammatory conditions).
  • US Medical Affairs experience plus Global Medical Affairs experience (preferred) with knowledge of applicable US regulations.
  • Experience in translational medicine (T0T1) or early development (phase 1) assets within Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, or Clinical Development is preferred.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry; product launch experience (especially in US) is preferred.
  • Clinical or academic practice in CNS is preferred.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to translate insights into actionable plans.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to interact with internal and external stakeholders, including KOLs.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a proactive problem-solving mindset.

Compensation

Minimum $205,368.00 - Maximum $307,050.00, plus incentive opportunity. The range represents typical pay for the US. Actual pay will depend on experience, skills, and internal comparisons. Other elements may be used to determine pay in accordance with laws.
