FTE: Full Time, 1.0, 80.00 hours per pay period (2 weeks)
Shift: Days
Pay: $22.14 - $28.78 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience
Summary:
Recruits and consents patients for research imaging. Operates specialized ophthalmic equipment. Performs optical coherence tomography and non-mydriatic fundus photography.
Responsibilities:
- Under direct supervision of an eye care provider, assists with performing patient care and patient flow.
- Under direct supervision of an eye care provider: Performs diagnostic imaging and testing including OCT, fundus photography, and visual field testing.
- Administers intravenous agents in preparation for retinal and fluorescein angiography.
- Performs clinical and administrative duties in support of assigned area.
- Provides documentation, patient education and enters charges.
- Performs clinical and administrative duties in support of assigned area.
- Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC) within 30 days of hire or Certified Ophthalmic Assistant certification.
- Completion of the Ophthalmic Assistant Home Study Course within 1 year of hire (tracked by unit) or Certified Ophthalmic Assistant Certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) healthcare provider; BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.
- 2 years of related healthcare experience.
