Base pay range

$160,000.00/yr - $190,000.00/yr

In this role you'll develop both front-end dashboards and backend services that power critical control operations. This includes building native applications, multi-window UIs, and the real-time pipelines that drive them. Youll collaborate closely with system and middleware engineers to deliver seamless, performant interfaces.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop thin plugins (C++/Qt) that connect real-time data to backend services.
• Build custom dashboards and operator UIs (status grids, alerts, quick-action panels,
• map and timeline views).
• Implement low-latency APIs and data pipelines for real-time event streaming and state
• updates.
• Work with the middleware engineer to design data models, event bus schemas, and
• Ensure real-time rendering performance, with UX tuned for time-critical operations.
• Build multi-window applications integrated with a window manager and containerized
• Contribute to end-to-end design reviews, spanning APIs, data flows, and UI workflows.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree in engineering or related field.
• 58 years of experience spanning both front-end development and backend systems.
• Proven ability to own features end-to-end, from database to polished UI.
• Location: 3 days a week onsite in SF Bay Area.

Strong experience with:

• C++/Qt (preferred) or Rust + egui/OpenGL for native GUI development.
• React + Typescript (or similar web frameworks).
• Go, Rust, or Python for backend services.
• gRPC, REST, WebSockets for real-time APIs.
• Mapbox GL or similar mapping frameworks.
• Redis, PostgreSQL, and real-time data pipelines.

Bonus:

• Familiarity with containerized deployments (Docker/K8s) and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana).
