Are you ready to launch your career in water treatment operations? Watertown Municipal Utilities in Watertown, South Dakota is seeking motivated individuals to join our team as an Apprentice or Certified Water Plant Operator .

This role involves performing semi-skilled and skilled tasks related to the operation, maintenance, and repair of the municipal water plant. You'll help ensure safe, clean drinking water for the community by operating treatment equipment, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining system integrity.

What You'll Do:

• Operate and maintain water treatment equipment and systems.
• Ensure safe and effective purification of water for public consumption.
• Assist in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues.
• Work independently.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must pass the South Dakota Water Plant Class I certification exam within 6 months of hire.
• Have or obtain a valid South Dakota driver's license.
• Ability to lift 50–100 pounds.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Preferred: vocational training in mechanical trades and/or experience in water treatment.

Schedule:

• Night shifts on a 7-on / 7-off rotation, with a mix of 8- and 12-hour shifts.
